Hello! Ready to build the creative courage it takes to create visual experiences? Three housekeeping things before we start.
- I’m so excited! David Cohen participated in yesterday’s prompt, and it makes me so happy. See it here! (Doesn’t he seem like someone you’d just want to hug?) I’m also doing a Doodles to Noodle session with him today, which makes me even more excited. Yay for art!
- Not familiar with our Show and Don’t Tell? Jump right in where you’re at (highly recommended), or explore all the prompts.
- Our release celebration pricing is ending today, so if you plan on registering for the course, today’s a fantastic day to do it. Details here.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s go!
Prompt of achievement: Time to completion: 10 minutes
What is the greatest thing you’ve achieved in your nation so far? (Or, what is the greatest thing you hope to achieve?) It could be serious or silly. Make a monument to your achievement using anything you have around the house (some ideas for materials: duct tape, envelopes, sharpie markers, wire hangers, paper clips, plastic bags, food, candy, soda cans, ribbon, kraft paper, gift tags, spaghetti, etc.)

This is a scan of a bona fide “clacker-thing”, as we lovingly call it. (Jeff and Julianne, who are oh-so-knowledgeable about these things, were thankfully not present to strike our knuckles for such ignorance.) It represents Jen’s decision to act as the director of her own nation on October 31, 2011…it’s been an ongoing achievement since that day.
She hand-crafted this beauty with a pencil, a couple of markers, several sheets of printer paper strategically combined for sturdiness, and a glue stick. Unfortunately, it had to be deconstructed to fit in the scanner, but we performed emergency surgery quickly afterward.
By the way, I discovered yesterday that you can upload pictures in the comments. Sweet! I’d love to see your experiments as you participate with us. Remember our mantra:

[...] is my day 2 effort prompted by the rascally revolutionaries over at A Small [...]
Well after those nice words I couldn’t very well skip the second day, could I? Here’s my mini-monument – it’s a minument: http://www.equationarts.com/2012/08/monument-to-achievement-doodle-maquette/
Haha! Minument. New favorite word.
This is so fantastic, David. Hooray!!!
I too love your minument, especially the gorgeous artwork that transpired. whee!
Thank you Cynthia!
I love the slate/clacker thing! It was also such a clever invention as a way to sync up sound and visuals. I think there’s good juju in a monument based on that.
Me too. If there’s one thing Jen’s got, it’s lots of juju.
