We interrupt our regularly scheduled series to kick off our new course with our first ever Show & (Don’t) Tell! Every day for the next 14 days, we are sharing prompts to get your visual language skills in top form, even if you’re not a designer, photographer, or film-maker. OPA! (This is our new word for WOOT. We’re hoping it catches on.)

(By the way, that’s Jen. If you’ve started taking the course, you’ll recognize her as Crybaby. She doesn’t whine that much in real life.)
Day 1 Prompt (time to completion: 20 seconds)
If you’re going to join us for our Show & (Don’t) Tell, you have just one assignment today (it will take about 20 seconds). Either subscribe to our email list (so we can send you a reminder prompt each day) OR put a to-do on your calendar to come back tomorrow. That’s it! If you’ve successfully finished your assignment for today, go ahead and have some pie.
One more thing…we’ve got some nation-builders to showcase! A little while ago, we shared some of our founders trading cards with you, and we decided to make some for a few of you guys. Looking at the nations you guys are building makes me do a little dance.
Find Julie’s nation at scentmark.org. I especially love her Photos in the Field page…if you love wildlife, this section will make you wish you were right there with her.
Patricia is doing amazing work in encaustic painting…otherwise known as “hot wax art” for the less-educated among us. Find her at pbsartist.com.
My lovely Lisa! That is what I call her when she’s not around. She delights me every single day with her creatures and her “Rabbit Rabbits”. She should really write a children’s book, or maybe a grown-up book where we pretend to be kids. Find her at lisafirke.com.
See you tomorrow for the second day of our Show & (Don’t) Tell. Don’t forget to leave your inner critic at home!

I love these founder trading cards! The visuals are wonderful! Great work as always =).
Thanks Laurie!
Love how these turned out! Thanks for making me my own special trading card!
You are so welcome, Lisa!!! So glad to feature you and your wonderful nation. You are so, so talented, and you bring so much joy to the world just by being in it.
I am in! This is going to be a real challenge for me AND you, Sarah Bray, transform uncharted lands (like web design and visual communications) from scary to adventuresome. Yay! I cannot wait for tomorrow.
Woohooo! You bet it will, Christyna. I am such a writer…it’s hard for me to think visually when it comes to content creation (even though I’m a graphic designer). But I think part of that is that I’m afraid of failing. I don’t like doing things that I’m not good at.
Lisa Firke rocks. She has been a dear friend of mine for years and I have many of her pieces in my study. They make me smile every day!
Three thumbs up for Lisa Firke! (If that’s possible.)
Oooh goody! A Lisa Firke card! I love this whole series. A lot.
I’m loving all the ASN posts, and thanks for introducing us to more amazing people!
Isn’t she amazing? You are welcome, Karen!
fantabulous! thanks for making me a Super Hero for a day [even better than Queen for a Day] – I have shared my trading card with my nation and they approve
